Each panel is 150 × 150 cm. All elements are made from plastic bags mounted on recycled polyethylene film.
The work is dedicated to people – specifically women – who have passed through or are currently passing through “re-education” camps in Xinjiang. It reflects on the gradual erosion of identity as a result of this purge. These women may be Kazakh, Uyghur, Uzbek – any Central Asian women. It is about the process by which a living person is turned into an aruakh, a ghost, a spirit.
